BOOK crawl : MYOPIC books, wicker park
There are certain spots in this city that just make you sigh with happiness the moment you step inside, and Myopic Books in Wicker Park is definitely one of them. This little literary haven has been a neighborhood favorite for decades, since 1991 same year I moved to Chicago. and it’s still the largest used bookstore in the city 🖤
From the outside, honestly you might just walk past it, but step through the door, and it’s like falling down a rabbit hole. The hallways are narrow, lined floor to ceiling with books…and you’re called to every turn, there are stacks of books reaching for the ceiling and the soft shuffle of other book-lovers is a nice backdrop.
Upstairs, there’s a magical bay window flooded with gorgeous natural light—a perfect spot to pause for a minute (or an hour). The space feels intimate but alive, buzzing quietly.
What I love most about Myopic Books isn’t just all of this amazingness—it’s that it’s there. still! since 1991 🖤 Not every neighborhood is lucky enough to have a bookstore like this,
Myopic Books is a must-visit.
For a day wandering the magical aisles of Myopic Books, I went with an all-black ensem(ble)—because let’s face it, Wicker Park 🖤
Christopher Kane blk/wht oversized sweatshirt (similar cheekiness here), All Black barrel leg denim similar here, Tibi Borg sock/flat shoe, mom’s pearls, watch ring via LACMA, David Yurman thumb ring
FIT CHK » Fri (another gorgeous fall day, maybe 70degrees?), running returns & in search of a new book, Bucktown/Wicker Park
WHAT WAS I THINKING» well what I was feeling was…I want to add to their landscape, Wicker Park. So fit inspo is Wicker Park🖤 My modern, avant-garde-ish designer sweatshirt brought my POV on BLK while a pop of red in my sock & flats gave…I-thought-it-all-the-way-through. The outfit felt effortlessly but perfectly at home among the floor-to-ceiling books and cozy, narrow hallways of this neighborhood gem.
